Bleary Eyes

Coffee brewed

Steal away for a moment

Before the moment steals from you

“Mommy, mommy!

It’s not fair”

Screams and tears

“My teddy bear!”

Ideas on scrap paper

Now tucked away

My words

will have to wait

Snuggles and whispers

And boo-boo kisses

The laundry calls

So do the dishes

Ideas beckon

But it’s lunchtime

Short order cook

Kids stand in line

Ideas are calling!

Take a number.

Lovies missing

Problems need listening

Time for baths

Sticky notes will have to do

Bedtime stories

And I love you’s

Good night baby

Good night bear

Pick up socks

And tiny underwear

Songs have been sung

Hearts have been mended

But my ideas sit neglected

Like a garden untended
