Motherhood can be really challenging but don’t let the temperature of your day dictate your value.
Being a mom is hard! It can be downright defeating when you are continually basing your success as a parent on what you feel, how you stack up to others, and the all too telling litmus test of “are the kids behaving?”. You’re a great mom if the kids are quiet and they are following directions. You’re nailing it if the house is clean and organized. You get a gold star if the meals are organic. If your child, however is screaming at the top of her lungs in the craft aisle of Target, or his hair is unkempt or the house is a disaster, the perspective shifts. All of a sudden, you can literally feel the judgmental stares of those far wiser than you in the motherhood department.
Motherhood sure has its ups and downs. Those moments when you are on fire as a mommy. You’re living the Proverbs 31 dream, baby!
But sometimes the temperature drops and you with it. It can be very tempting to gauge your value as a mom totally on the success of a particular day.
It doesn’t have to be that way, though.
Tossing the ther{MOM}eters
Join me as we take an honest look at ourselves, our measuring sticks and find out just what makes a good mother and covenant with one another to let God’s word and the Holy Spirit change our environment.
Let’s not do this alone. We are called and set apart to be the best moms we can be to the children with whom the Lord has gifted us. Ready to toss the thermometer?
Join the movement! Comment with one of your crazy experiences as a mom. Share how you could allow it to define your worth as a mom but instead you’re going to celebrate the wonderful mom you are! I’ll go first. Check out one of my thermometer moments below!
