Motherhood: When the Temperature of the Day Dictates Our Value

November 5, 2016

Motherhood can be really challenging but don’t let the temperature of your day dictate your value.

ther{MOM}eter learning to rise above the comparison game

Being a mom is hard! It can be downright defeating when you are continually basing your success as a parent on what you feel, how you stack up to others, and the all too telling litmus test of “are the kids behaving?”.  You’re a great mom if the kids are quiet and they are following directions. You’re nailing it if the house is clean and organized. You get a gold star if the meals are organic. If your child, however is screaming at the top of her lungs in the craft aisle of Target, or his hair is unkempt or the house is a disaster, the perspective shifts. All of a sudden, you can literally feel the judgmental stares of those far wiser than you in the motherhood department.

Motherhood sure has its ups and downs. Those moments when you are on fire as a mommy. You’re living the Proverbs 31 dream, baby!

But sometimes the temperature drops and you with it. It can be very tempting to gauge your value as a mom totally on the success of a particular day.

It doesn’t have to be that way, though.
